With this special addition to the property, you can engage in a wide variety of activities and develop new abilities. Despite the opportunity for growth, there are times when playing basketball with friends calls for an alternative to the standard.

During these moments, the court transforms into a blank canvas for a unique kind of basketball magic. Here are some basketball games that you can play on your backyard court that vary from the standard rules.

H-O-R-S-E

H-O-R-S-E is a beloved classic among backyard basketball games. In this friendly competition, one player starts the challenge by shooting from a designated location on the court, attacking the rim or performing a sort of trick-shot. If the shot goes in, the remaining players have to do a replica of the same performance that was done and nail the shot.

If this cannot be done the player who attempted the shot will obtain the letter “H” and so the cycle continues. If the shot-setting player misses the shot the turn goes to the player next in line to set an example.

As the plays go on and tensions build up the players who obtain the letters to spell ‘HORSE’ will be eliminated from the game. Once it boils down to two players the one who outperforms the other by making the other player obtain all the letters will emerge victorious.

There is a shorter variation of this game called ‘PIG’ in instances where there are many players or a quicker game is desired.

Around the World on Your Backyard Court

The "Around the World" shooting game is an amazing test of your accuracy and shooting skills, making it an all-time favourite on the basketball court. Participants excitedly take turns attempting to sink baskets from the several chosen places throughout the court.

A successful shot advances them to their next assigned place, whilst a failed shot requires another attempt.

Players zigzag across the court as the game continues, attempting to conquer each location in order. What is the ultimate goal? To be the first person to successfully make a basket from every single location on the court, claiming victory and the title of shooting champion.

"Around the World" takes a simple shoot-around and turns it into an intriguing challenge that keeps players on their toes.

21

"21" is an exciting basketball game in which the goal is to be the first player to score exactly 21 points. The game is played on a regular court with 2 to 5 players (or more if desired), with one person taking the opening shot, worth 1 point, and following players attempting to rebound and make baskets, each worth 2 points.

Players take turns shooting in the order in which they collect the ball. The catch is that if a player's score exceeds 21 points, the game resets to 15, giving a strategy and risk aspect to the game. The winner is the first player to score exactly 21 points, making "21" an exciting and competitive variation for basketball lovers of all skill levels.

In Conclusion

These are just 3 of the many games that can be played on your Kangaroo Courts backyard court. “H-O-R-S-E” flexes your trickshot abilities and might even come in handy someday for a last minute game winner shot. “Around the World” maximizes your shooting ability from different parts of the courts enhancing your skills in a more exciting manner and 21 builds your overall individual skill from dribbling, shooting to defense and more. By expanding beyond the traditional ways you can have more fun and memories created with family and friends.
